Ireland relocation guide

Moving to Ireland: your relocation, organised

An Irish move means running immigration, housing, banking, schools, healthcare, and tax at once. Relocora turns it into one ordered checklist — with document organisation and application packs — so nothing slips.

How Relocora helps

Personalised checklist

Get a step-by-step plan built around your destination, nationality, household, and employment. Every task in the right order.

Document organisation

Link files from your Google Drive and keep everything in one place. No uploads to Relocora; your files stay in your Drive.

Application packs

Build rental, bank, or school application packs from linked documents, as a shared folder in your Drive or a single PDF.

Your Ireland move: a rough timeline

Leaving

Before you travel

  • Secure your legal basis to stay (employment permit and job offer, Stamp 4 family route, student place, or other qualifying status)
  • Apply for your entry visa or pre-clearance if your route requires it before you fly
  • Arrange initial accommodation proof or a host letter where needed for immigration
  • If bringing a pet: complete microchip, rabies vaccination, titer test, and USDA-endorsed EU certificate - allow at least 4 months

Landing

First 90 days

  • Register for your PPS number at an Intreo Centre as soon as you have an Irish address and a reason to need one
  • Open a bank account (PPS and proof of address unlock most traditional banks)
  • Begin your housing search with documents ready - the market moves very fast in Dublin and Cork
  • Register with immigration (GNIB / IRP appointment) if your permission requires a residence card

Living

Settling in

  • Register with Revenue for tax credits and PAYE or self-assessment as appropriate
  • Register with a GP and apply for a Medical Card if your income qualifies
  • Enrol children in school once you have an address in a catchment area
  • Review private health insurance if you want faster access to specialists beyond the public system
Your Relocora checklist is organised around these same three phases - every task in the right order for your situation. Build your plan free.
